Havana, September 10 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno said negotiating teams from Cuba and the European Union (EU), gathered here in Havana and continue working hard, with high resoluteness, toward achieving a bilateral agreement on political dialogue and cooperation.

Moreno is heading the Cuban delegation at this fifth round of bilateral talks, while the EU delegation is headed by Christian Leffler, Managing Director for the Americas at the European External Action Service.

Speaking on behalf of the EU 28 member states, Leffler said the two sides are advancing steadily toward the development of joint cooperation projects.

According to the official website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, bilateral EU-Cuba talks began in April, 2014, following a decision adopted by the EU's Foreign Affairs Council, to invite Cuba to sit down at the negotiating table.

Cuba has repeatedly reiterated its readiness and willingness to advance the negotiations process on the basis of equity and mutual respect, as was agreed in 2008, when the political dialogue was reestablsihed between the two sides.
