Havana, April 30 (RHC)-- All of Cuba's main squares and plazas, including of course Havana's José Martí Revolution Square, are set to welcome Cuban workers and their families, who will parade on May Day –International Workers' Day.

Cuban flags, photos of late union leader Lázaro Peña and patriotic slogans all adorn the iconic Havana enclave. Leaders with the Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC), which organizes May Day celebrations, said more than 500.000 Cuban workers will participate in the commemorative parades and marches, representing 17 state and non-state sectors.

They added that a bloc of nearly 50 thousand Cuban and foreign young students will close the patriotic march.

More than 2000 union leaders and solidarity activists from around the world are here in Cuba to celebrate along with the Cuban people. This year's May Day celebrations are dedicated to Cuban leader Fidel Castro on his 90th birthday and also to the 55th anniversaries of the Cuban literacy campaign and the 1961 Cuban victory over the mercenary invasion at the Bay of Pigs.
