Cuban Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez

Havana, June 1 (RHC-PL) -- Cuban Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez, will lead a delegation which will visit the United States in response to the invitation made by his U.S. counterpart, Thomas Vilsack, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba announced Tuesday.

According to the note by the Ministry, the visit is takes place .  Rodriguez will hold exchanges in Washington with officials from the departments of Agriculture and Commerce, as well as with organizations, which support the elimination of the blockade and the normalization of relations with Cuba.

The Cuban delegation will travel from the US capital to Iowa, where they will visit agricultural research centers and production facilities.

The delegation will be accompanied by Secretary Vilsack, who recently visited Cuba.  According to information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit of the Cuban delegation will boost cooperation in areas such as organic production and scientific exchanges on animal and plant health.

The Cuban delegation includes officials from the Ministries of Agriculture; Science, Technology and Environment; Foreign Affairs; and Water Resources.
