Havana, September 19 (RHC)-- The Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) will present this Wednesday in Havana a digital edition of the book The Odyssey of a President, a text that covers Chilean political events from 1970 to 1973, especially the last moments of Salvador Allende.

Nancy Núñez Pires and Lídice Valenzuela García are the authors of the volume, under the seal of the Verde Olivo Publishing House, of particular interest to the reader the disclosure of various aspects related to the solidarity of the left based in the nation and the Cuban Revolution.

Likewise, it narrates events, until now publicly unknown, concerning the personality of the president and its prologue is by Dr. Armando Hart Dávalos (1930-2017), a prominent Cuban intellectual and politician.

Both the eleven chapters of the work and the annexes that accompany them, contribute to give an overview as comprehensive as possible, of the historical stage of Chile, Latin America and the world that served as a stage for that pioneering epic, says Hart Dávalos in his introduction.

He mainly emphasizes the unforgettable personality of Allende, a foundational hero of the epochal change that the Patria Grande is living today.

The text contains vast inquiries and a captivating literary presentation, as a reference material to fully understand this important chapter of Latin American history and a source of reunion with some of the traditions of struggle of our continent.

The Odyssey of a President was promoted for the first time last Friday at the Fidel Castro Center, where one of its creators, Lídice Valenzuela García, offered details on the results of the two-handed research with her colleague Nancy Núñez Pires.

Valenzuela García has a degree in Journalism from the University of Havana and was part of the group of young people who participated in the first journalism course, from 1965 to 1968, taught at the Ñico López Higher School of the Party, currently the Ñico López University of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

He is currently an Analyst of international and cultural issues and in 2008 wrote Un paseo con García Márquez, edited in Spain; and in 2016 Comer es un placer, which compiles a group of recipes for healthy meals, especially for people with type II diabetes.

When he served in the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina, he shared, among others, with Jorge Timossi, then its chief correspondent in Santiago de Chile, and author of the book Grandes Alamedas. El combate del presidente Allende.

His text gathers the first testimonies of the combat waged by Allende and his closest collaborators against the forces of reaction and fascism that attacked La Moneda Palace on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 1973, encouraged by the counterrevolutionary services of the United States government.
