Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel presided over the awards ceremony

Havana, September 29 (RHC)-- Tokyo 2020 champions Omara Durand and Mijaín López received the September 28 Distinction on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the creation of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, presided over the awards ceremony for CDR grassroots structures and renowned cederistas.

The ceremony took place at the El Laguito Protocol Hall, in this capital, in the presence of members of the Political Bureau of the Party and the Hero of the Republic of Cuba Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, national coordinator of the CDR.

In declarations to Cuban television, Mijaín highlighted the honor of sharing with all the guests and ratified the will to defend the Revolution together with the people.

In addition to the Distinction, the 28th of September Flag and the Medal for the defense of the Homeland and the unity of the neighborhood were awarded.
