Cuba in U-15 pre-World Cup

Caracas, June 13 (PL) - The teams of Venezuela and Panama shared the gold medal and the title of champion in the U-15 pre-World Baseball Tournament, after the final game of the event was cancelled due to rain.

The title game, held in Valencia, Venezuela, was leading 5-2 for the host team when weather conditions forced the game to be stopped.

The bronze medal went to the Cuban team, which defeated Puerto Rico by a score of 11-1, while Colombia defeated the Dominican Republic 10-9 to take fifth place.

In the process, the Colombian team won the last qualifying place for the world championship of the category, scheduled for Hermosillo, Mexico, from August 26 to September 4.

Two Cubans were included in the All-Star team of the pre-World Championship: Roberto Peña (1B) and Alejandro Prieto (outfielder).
