New rescues for Raidel and Moinelo in baseball in Japan

Havana, August 10 (RHC)-- Cubans Raidel Martinez and Livan Moinelo reaped new saves in the Japan Professional Baseball League 2022.

Right-hander Martinez earned his 24th save of the season after retiring all three opponents in a row in one inning of relief. His effectiveness dropped to 1.01.

He helped his Chunichi Dragons defeat the Yomiuri Giants, 3x2, at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya.

In that game, Dayán Viciedo hit a pair of singles in four innings, scored once and towed the winning run.

In addition, Camagüey's Yariel Rodríguez did not allow any hits or runs in one inning of work to improve his effectiveness to 1.89, while his compatriot Pedro Revilla went 3-1 with a double. He now averages .348.

As for Moinelo, he picked up his 16th save of the year after striking out one of the three batters he faced in a perfect inning of relief. His team, the Softbank Falcons, defeated the Lotte Marinos 3x0 at the ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba.

The left-hander from Pinar del Río, who remains in fifth place in the Pacific League in saves, improved his effectiveness to 0.78. Alfredo Despaigne went 4-2 with a pair of singles and a strikeout to raise his average to .255.
