Havana, September 20 (ACN) - The Cuban men's team lost in five sets (2-3) to Mexico in the first day of the North, Central America and Caribbean (Norceca) Pan American Cup Final Six, in Edmonton, Canada.

The Cubans won the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-22, but the Mexicans reacted in the next three with scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 15-9.

Mexico took advantage of the instability of Mario Raul Izquierdo's young disciples, mostly from the U21 category.

On Wednesday, Cuba will face Puerto Rico, followed by Canada on Thursday, the Dominican Republic on Friday and the United States on Saturday, in the closing of the preliminary phase in a round-robin system.

The top two teams will meet for the gold medal on Sunday.
