Havana, Jun 8 (RHC) - Cuban Alejandro Rodriguez won the silver medal in the elite category of the Calima 2025 Pan American Triathlon Cup, in Colombia's Valle del Cauca.

With a time of 1:54.12 hours, Rodriguez set a milestone for triathlon on the Island and also finished in fourth place overall.

The competition was dominated by Chilean Diego Moya (1:53:12), who competed in the elite category, followed by Sullivan Middaugh (1:53:30), and Osvaldo Darell Zúñiga Fierro (1:53:48), both in sprint for under 23 years old.

The performance of Rodriguez, known as "the Kenya", earned him an invitation to the Huatulco Triathlon World Cup, to be held on the 21st and 22nd of this month in Mexico.

The other Cubans were far from the podium: Jorge Emmanuel Alemañez placed 45th with 2:08:25 hours, while Claudia Gurri was 23rd with 1:19:24 hours. Leslie Amat was unable to finish the race due to injury.

The under-23s competed in the sprint distance which included a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run, while the elites did 1.5 km, 40 km, and 10 km.
