Mandela and Fidel Race for World Peace

Havana, July 12 (RHC) - The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder, for its Spanish acronym) and the South African Embassy in Cuba are calling for participation in the Nelson Mandela-Fidel Castro 2025 Race for World Peace next Saturday, July 19.

As part of Nelson Mandela International Day, the celebration will take place in the circuit of the capital's Sports City, with a distance of 10 kilometers. The start will be at 7:00 a.m. and the initial report will be made one hour before.

Registration will take place on July 17 and 18 at the Marabana offices, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those who did not participate in Marabana 2024 will receive a new bib upon registration.

Prizes will be awarded to the first three places of each gender and to the winners by associations of people with disabilities. The first 1,000 runners will receive incentives to qualify for Marabana 2025.

The circuit consists of three laps along Via Blanca, Palatino, Santa Catalina, and Boyeros Avenues, starting and finishing at the parking lot of the emblematic facility. This rectification guarantees the 10 km course.

The National Commission of Races and Walks, which provides technical and logistical support to the main foot races on the Island, confirms that this edition is a qualifier for Marabana 2025.

The last opportunity to participate in the usual November event will be the half marathon Ideal Olímpico, on August 13, at a distance of 21 km between San José and Güines, in the province of Mayabeque.
