Caracas, December 1 (AVN-RHC)-- The Venezuelan government will continue to provide comprehensive, free and universal coverage to all people currently living with HIV/AIDS, reiterated the Deputy Minister of Public Health Network, Claudia Morón.

Morón also recalled that the Executive adopted a state policy to distribute retrovirals and food supplements free of charge since 1999 for those people who are immuno-compromised, which are available in 66 pharmacies throughout the country.

Some 43,000 people, including pregnant women, are currently treated at the National Public Health System, guaranteeing their rights, as established by Article 83 of the Venezuelan Constitution.

According to data from the Venezuelan Ministry of Health, some 11,000 people are infected in the country and an average 530 Venezuelans die each year.
