Buenos Aires, January 23 (RHC)-- Argentinian President Cristina Fernández will travel to Havana to participate in the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held January 28th and 29th, her Chief of Staff Jorge Capitanich told the press on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the Argentinian ambassador to Cuba, Juliana Isabel Marino told Radio Havana Cuba that Fernandez was going to attend the summit in Havana, a sign, she said, of the importance Argentina attributes to CELAC.

The Argentinian diplomat also expressed her government's satisfaction with the fact that the Malvinas island's dispute will be addressed at the CELAC meeting, where an overwhelming backing for Argentine's claim over these territories is expected.

The Heads of State and government representatives of the 33 CELAC member countries are due to arrive in Havana as of January 27th for the summit, which will address pressing issues affecting the region, such as poverty, the exploitation of natural resources and armed violence.
