Havana, March 10 (RHC)-- One million tourists have visited Cuba so far this year, confirming the island’s allure and safety conditions

The Director of Communication of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, Janet Ayala, described the positive results obtained in the first months of the year, despite the adverse situation resulting from US pressures.

Ayala noted that the remarkable result was achieved amidst policy changes of the current US administration, which strengthen the implementation of the blockade and make travel between the two countries more difficult.

Based on excuses without any scientific evidence, Washington maintains a travel alert against the island, and has asked US citizens to reconsider their visit to the island.

In 2017, 620,000 American travelers arrived in Cuba and a survey conducted by the Cuba Educational Travel company showed that the vast majority consider the island a "very safe" place.

Currently 68 airlines link Cuba with 70 major cities in the world, while in the cruise modality,  ports and stop over points include Havana, Cienfuegos, Casilda, Punta Francés, María la Gorda and Santiago de Cuba.
