Esteban Lazo meets the president of the Russian Senate, Valentina Matvienko

Havana, November 15 (RHC)--  Esteban Lazo, President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, met on Friday with Valentina Matvienko, President of the Council of the Russian Federation (Senate), on an official visit to Cuba.

After the meeting, Lazo told the press that it was an amicable encounter, in accordance with current bilateral relations.

“ Russia and Cuba are at the highest point in their economic relations and the Eurasian country has always supported the island in its condemning of the U.S. blockade,” he said

He added that Matvienko's visit constitutes an additional boost to existing ties.

He pointed out that almost 200,000 Russian tourists visited Cuba last year, and this is a field in which work will continue, as well as projects related to electricity, railways, transportation, education, biotechnology and the development of the industry.

During the encounter, Matvienko spoke about the Russian companies in working and investing in Cuba

She also stressed that today, relations are booming at a high level and that in recent years has increased its dynamism, both between the ministries of Foreign Affairs and between parliaments.
