Havana, August 11 (RHC)-- The U.S. policy towards Cuba is based on lies, a high-ranking official of the Caribbean island's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, director for the U.S. Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the statement on Twitter.

He pointed out that Cuba's enemies' most powerful and recurrent argument is the lie and added that falsehood is manufactured in sophisticated laboratories and 'spreads like scabies in digital networks.'

The official wrote that it is replicated by U.S. spokespersons and endorsed by the mass media.

The message comes one month after the violent incidents in Cuba on July 11 and which, according to Havana authorities, were incited from the United States.
