Caracas, Sep 14 (RHC) The Venezuela-Cuba Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Movement on Tuesday rejected statements made by former Mexican President Felipe Calderón (2006-2012) against Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Calderon questioned the invitation extended by the head of state Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to his Cuban counterpart to attend the events for the bicentennial of the independence of Mexico, in which he will deliver a speech.

In a tone of marked hostility and interference, the former Mexican president made unfounded accusations on the social network Twitter about the alleged repressive nature of the Government of the Caribbean nation.

In view of this, the Venezuela-Cuba friendship movement rejected Felipe Calderón's attempts to 'muddy the top figure of great international prestige' that precedes President Díaz-Canel, who will also participate in the VI Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

This dastardly and decadent character (...) intends to reedit passages of the past to try to tarnish the excellent relations that Mexico and Cuba exhibit at present', added the Venezuelan collective of solidarity with the island.

Likewise, the Movement also welcomed the support given by the Mexican State to the dialogue process between the Venezuelan Government and the so-called Unitary Platform of the opposition, initiated on August 13 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. (Source: Prensa Latina).
