Cuba confirms four deaths and 951 cases of COVID-19 during last 24 hours

The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported on Thursday four deaths and 951 positive samples for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated total of 1,057,797 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

Havana, February 10 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported on Thursday four deaths and 951 positive samples for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated total of 1,057,797 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.

At the end of yesterday, February 9, a total of 15,393 patients had been admitted, 9,750 were suspected, 127 were under surveillance and 5,516 were confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 16,300 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, with 951 positive for a 5.8% positivity rate. The country accumulates 12 million 845 thousand 148 samples performed and 1 million 057 thousand 797 positive (8.2%).

Of the total number of cases (951): 921 were contacts of confirmed cases, 21 with source of infection abroad and 9 with no source of infection specified. Of the 951 diagnosed cases, 540 were female and 411 were male.

A total of 10.1% (96) of the 951 positive cases were asymptomatic, making a total of 144,136 cases, representing 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

Of the 951 diagnosed cases, they belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (219), 20 to 39 years of age (236), 40 to 59 years of age (258), 60 and over (238).

Of the 1,057,797 patients diagnosed with the disease, 5,516 remain hospitalized, 5,468 of them with stable clinical evolution. There were 8,454 deaths (4 during the day), a mortality rate of 0.80% vs. 1.44% in the world and 1.8% in the Americas, two evacuees and 57 returnees to their countries. During the day there were 1,495 discharges, 1,043,768 patients recovered (98.7%). There are 48 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 20 are critical and 28 are serious.

During the day, 4 patients died.  We deeply regret their deaths and convey our condolences to their families and friends.

As of February 9, 191 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 402 million 352 thousand 679 confirmed cases (+ 2 million 974 thousand 339), 74 million 609 thousand 42 active cases and 5 million 786 thousand 211 deaths (+ 13 thousand 229) for a case fatality rate of 1.44% (-0.01).

In the Americas, 143 million 54 thousand 53 confirmed cases (+ 507 thousand 145) were reported, 35.55% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 34 million 661 thousand 285 active cases and 2 million 578 thousand 395 deaths (+ 5 thousand 966) for a case fatality rate of 1.8% (-0.01).
