Havana, Oct 5 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked on Wednesday the effort of workers in the electrical system after Hurricane Ian hit the western part of the country.

Through his Twitter account, the president noted that these professionals are "an example for Cuba".

During the act of recognition to the brigades of the electric sector that supported the recovery of Havana and the reestablishment of the National Electric System, the First Secretary of the Communist Party in the Cuban capital, Luis Antonio Torres, affirmed that the damages registered were not less than those reported on previous occasions.

He stressed that for that reason, it took almost six days to fully reestablish the electric service in Havana. "I can assure you that it was done as quickly as the technical and human conditions allowed. We worked day and night, without rest".

The nearly 500 workers honored, coming from several provinces of the rest of the country, will continue their solidarity commitment in Artemisa and Pinar del Río, where the situation is still complex due to Ian’s impact, last September 27. (Source: PL)
