Cuba and Azerbaijan confirm their willingness to strengthen relations

Havana, June 16 (RHC) Cuba and Azerbaijan confirmed today their willingness to continue strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, especially the agreement within the framework of the presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 + China.

This was reported on Twitter by Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, after holding an exchange at the local Foreign Ministry with Fariz Rzayev, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of that Eurasian nation.

Since October 2019, Azerbaijan has held the NAM presidency, while Cuba has assumed the pro tempore presidency of the G77 + China since January of this year.

The NAM, founded in 1961, is an important forum for political agreement made up of 120 countries, with the aim of establishing an alliance of independent States and establishing a neutral current and non-alignment with the international politics of the great powers.

Created in 1964 within the NAM, the G77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries in the United Nations, which provides the means for the nations of the South to articulate and promote their collective economic interests, improve their joint bargaining capacity on the main international economic issues, and promote South-South cooperation for development.
