In Cuba, exhibition for the anniversary of the San Alejandro Academy of Arts

Havana, Jan 13 (RHC) The San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, in Havana, inaugurated this Friday the exhibition Homenaje (Tribute), as part of the program of celebrations for its 206th anniversary.

The exhibition is a recognition of the work of its teachers and their contribution to the training of artists.

Consisting of two independent montages, the first houses works from the Engraving Workshop of master Eduardo Hernández, along with works by the artists Sonia Almaguer, Adrian García, Denys San Jorge and Jormay González.

In turn, in the school's José Antonio Díaz Peláez gallery, there is a set of portraits of professors from the institution with more than a decade of active teaching.

Reynier Suñol, head of the Specialty Department and main coordinator of the exhibition, stated that the exhibition’s purpose is to honor the teachers, as recognition of this type has never been made to educators who are active through art with the works of their students.

Both exhibitions had the participation of students from the academy and in the case of the portraits, they were made entirely by the students.

The exhibition will be open to the public throughout the month of January, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. (Source: PL)
