Havana, June 20 (RHC)-- Cuban authorities warned of the precarious situation of refugees worldwide and denounced that between late 2014 and mid 2015, nearly 60 million people have been forcibly displaced from their country of origen.

During a ceremony in Havana on occasion of World Refugee Day, Alberto Aragón, Head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees' Office in Havana, called for stronger actions from the international community in favor of the millions of people forced to live in other countries due to wars and invasions. He noted that one in every 122 people in the world today is either displaced, a refugee or an assylum seeker.

Aragón added that 50 percent of refugees in today's world are originally from Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine or Somalía, and mentioned Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Lebanon and Ethiopia among the world's top recipient countries.
