Pinar del Rio, January 4 (RHC)-- Despite adverse weather resulting from El Niño climatic phenomenon, the Cuban tobacco planting campaign advances at good pace, sources in the sector said.

The achievement was praised in western Pinar del Rio province by Cuban Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, who recently toured the fields.

“I leave with a good impression of the places I visited, the high quality of tobacco-leaf plantations reveal the effort by all,” said Machado during his visit to the land of the famous Cuban tobacco.

The vice president called on tobacco farmers to increase the plots of land dedicated to the crop in the future in the face of increasing international demand of Cuban cigars.
