Cuban and Kenyan health ministers evaluate efforts for the return of two kidnaped doctors

Geneva, May 24 (RHC)- Cuba´s-Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal Miranda, held a meeting with his colleague from Kenya, Sicily Kariuki, to evaluate joint efforts for the return to Cuba the two health professionals kidnapped on April 12 in that African country.

The meeting took place in the context of the exchanges made by the Cuban minister with his counterparts attending the 72nd World Health Assembly, being held in Geneva, Switzerland, until May 31st.

During the encounter, minister Kariuki ratified that actions by her government continue for the release of the two doctors.

Cuba and the African nation have maintained a permanent dialogue to coordinate actions in order to find a solution to this situation.

Previously, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, spoke by telephone with his counterparts in Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.

Assel Herrera Correa, a general practitioner from Las Tunas province, and Landy Rodríguez Hernández, a surgeon from Villa Clara province. were kidnapped in Mandera. Kenya last April.
