Moscow, May 6 (RHC) –- Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev thanked Cuban President Raul Castro for his visit to Moscow to attend the May 9th Victory Parade.

During a meeting with the Cuban head of state, Medvedev recalled previous encounters he held with Raul and with the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during his trips to Havana.

“This is a festive occasion, we can talks about nice things, but also of important matters that are of interest to us both,” Medvedev said about his meeting with Raul Castro.

For his part, the Cuban leader stressed he wouldn't miss these festivities, given the strong and historic bonds of friendship that unite the peoples of Cuba and Russia.

The Cuban president recalled that he was 14 years old when the Soviet people triumphed over Nazi Germany in 1945 and said he still remembers listening to the news of the war's unfolding.

This is Raul Castro's third visit to Russia as president.
