Singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez has released a new album. Titled ‘Para la espera,’ the artist’s latest work is now available on the main digital platforms, including the YouTuve channel of the ministry of culture and a network of more than 100 Facebook pages.
Prior to the album’s official release this June 12th, 4 singles from ‘Para la espera’ were disclosed, also on social media, in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. These are ‘La adivinanza’ released on May 15, ‘Noche sin fin y mar’ on May 22, ‘Viene la cosa’ on May 29, and ‘Danzón para la espera’ on June 5.
‘Para la espera’ includes songs written by Silvio in recent years. He stressed that the tunes are first versions, recorded shortly after he wrote them. Only three out of the 13 songs included in the album were previously disclosed: ‘Jugamos a Dios’ (written in 2010) composed for the Cuban film ‘Afinidades’, ‘Viene la cosa’ (from 2016), performed at several of Silvio’s concerts in Havana neighborhoods and ‘Noche sin fin y mar’ (released in 2017), dedicated to his friend, Spanish musician, filmmaker, sculptor and painter Luis Eduardo Aute, who died last April.
The remaining 10 songs in ‘Para la espera’ were unpublished.
