Ciego de Avila reaches nine wins in National Softball Championship

Havana, September 20 (RHC)-- The Ciego de Avila team beat Villa Clara twice and extended its undefeated record to 9-0 in the Men's National Softball Championship 2022, held precisely in the so-called Tierra de la Piña.

At the provincial school of this sport, Miguel Albán's students defeated the orange boys 8x1 and 3x2, with hits by Alain Román and Eduardo González.

In the first game, Reicel Broca homered and Leonardo Jiménez was defeated. In the second game, Yurisander Ramos and Osvaldo Pérez hit the ball out of the park, with Danilo Gómez getting the loss.

Meanwhile, the Santiago de Cuba team remained in second place in the standings, despite splitting honors against bottom-placed Granma.

In the first inning, at the José Ramón Cepero Park, the Granmenses won 10x7 with Álvaro Rojas on the mound. Javier Navarro lost and Yersander Rodríguez, Yasmani Wilson and Gerardo Casi homered.

The Indómitos retaliated 12x4, with an offense of 11 hits and positive credit to Manuel Espino. César Salgado was defeated and Reinaldo Lamothe, Javier Randich, Andrés Reina, Alien Echeverría and Julio Méndez disappeared.    

In the other game of the day, held at the Paquito Espinosa stadium in Morón, the Holguineros defeated the Havana players twice with a score of 9x8 and 8x7.

Enrique Rodríguez and José Ávila got the wins, the losses went to Lariel Gómez and Yosvani Cárdenas, and the home runs to Reinier González, Rayner García, Bárbaro González, Yasmani Álvarez, Brayan González, Antonio Sixto and Luis R. Domínguez.

The standings now show Ciego de Avila (9-0) in first place, followed by Santiago de Cuba (6-4), Holguin (5-5), Villa Clara (4-6), Havana (3-7) and Granma (2-7).
