Diaz-Canel and Marrero attend presentation of the Games of the Future

 The First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended Friday the presentation of the Games of the Future.

Havana, May 20 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, attended Friday the presentation of the Games of the Future.

The initiative, formally shown in the framework of the 19th Meeting of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission, was attended by other high authorities of the country, such as Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and the president of INDER, Osvaldo Vento Montiller.

The technological-sports event proposes to integrate physical and electronic sports, and comprises mixed modalities in which participants must show skills in both fields.

This initiative had a first phase of study of rules in 2022 and another of testing of all disciplines this year, to give way to the development of these sports between February and March 2024.

This was explained by Temor J. Zenyalov, Director of the Digital Products, Education and International Development block of the autonomous non-commercial organization Arkivs.

Zenyalov also presented the facilities in the Russian city of Kazan, which will host the games.

The Cuban president thanked the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dimitri Chernishenko, who was present at the launch, for inviting Cuba to take part in the Games. For his part, the President of INDER assured that they will study the disciplines and showed the island's interest in participating in the novel initiative.
