Díaz-Canel: Cuban sports is alive and kicking

Havana, November 22 (RHC) --Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez received on Tuesday night at the Palace of the Revolution the medalists of the XIX Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.

Despite all the vicissitudes that Cuba is going through to develop sports, it is still alive, thriving and continues today among the best in the world, the Cuban president acknowledged before the athletes, coaches, commissioners and sports glories who also attended the sporting event.

Díaz-Canel affirmed that his country experienced exciting moments of great satisfaction to see how the athletes gave themselves to the competition "with tremendous dignity, and above all with overwhelming results in a group of sports".

He emphasized that the fifth place obtained by the Caribbean nation in the Pan American Games was won with tenacity, effort and talent, as reported by the Presidency of the Republic in the social network X.

As if this were not enough, our athletes in the Parapan American Games are also doing a tremendous performance, and I believe that they will also go beyond the forecasts, predicted the head of state.

The Cuban president follows closely the performance of his country in the multisport events and through his social networks recognizes and congratulates the protagonists of the victories for the island.

At the end of Tuesday's intense day, Cuba holds eight titles, four silver medals and seven bronze medals in the Parapan American Games, for a total of 19, and remains in seventh place in the standings by country. (Source:PL)
