Brussels, March 14 (RHC) – The UK will "regret" its decision to leave the European Union, a top EU official has warned.

Things "cannot remain as they are" for the UK in its relationship with the European Union once it has left the bloc, European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said in an address to the European Parliament.

Pro-separation legislators cheered when Juncker referred to the UK's departure, slated for March 29, 2019.

Responding to the small eurosceptic group , the EU president said that time would come "when you will regret your decision". He said also that more clarity was needed on how the UK saw its future relationship with the EU.

Referring to how UK-EU trade relations could evolve to be, Juncker said he would have preferred Britain not to have decided to leave, noting “anyone who leaves the European Union has to know, frankly, what this means."
