Venezuela receives 500,000 doses of Sputnik V from Russia

Caracas, June 13 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has confirmed the arrival to the country of new doses of the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Thank you Russia!  500,000 more doses of Sputnik V have arrived and are incorporated to the Mass Vaccination Plan against COVID-19," announced the Venezuelan vice president.

Rodriguez emphasized that despite the illegal sanctions imposed by Washington, the South American country continues in its fight against the pandemic.   "In the face of the ruthless hegemons that block the resources of the vaccine for Venezuela, Russia's cooperation, brotherhood and scientific leadership stand in opposition," she added.

For its part, the Venezuelan Ministry of Health stated that this is the eighth shipment of the drug that Russia has sent to the country.

The Russian Ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, said that the shipment is the best way to commemorate Russia's National Day on Saturday.  "There is no better option to celebrate this day so important for our country and to celebrate it here by receiving this other batch of vaccines, which is a symbol of our fraternity and cooperation in health matters and of solidarity with Venezuela," he added.
