Venezuela welcomes reestablishment of relations with Saint Lucia

Caracas, August 8 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza welcomed this Sunday the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia.

Caracas, August 8 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Arreaza welcomed this Sunday the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia.

Arreaza reciprocated to the authorities of Saint Lucia, who through their prime minister greeted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.   "We resume relations of respect, non-interference, solidarity, neighborliness and affection.  Thank you, brother prime minister! Long live Saint Lucia!" he added.

The Venezuelan foreign minister's statement comes after the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip Pierre, greeted the South American country.   "People of Venezuela: It is nice to be with good friends once again."

The St. Lucian prime minister explained that as brotherly countries it is necessary to respect sovereignty and self-determination.   "We also believe that we should not interfere in the internal policies of each country," he concluded.
