Caracas, September 30 (RHC)-- Venezuela's sectoral Vice President of Economy, Tareck El Aissami, said that the Bolivarian Government -- under the protection of International Law -- will rescue the companies Citgo and Monomeros, plundered by the United States and Colombia.

El Aissami denounced that former deputy Juan Guaidó, during the National Assembly in contempt in 2019, allowed the delivery to the U.S. and Colombian governments of the Venezuelan companies Citgo and Monómeros, respectively.

"We want to ratify the firm, absolute will of the Bolivarian Government to undertake the legal actions, both international and national, to get both companies back," he asserted during a televised news conference.  "We invoke international law to stop this arbitrariness," he emphasized.

El Aissami, who also serves as Minister of Petroleum, detailed the way in which Juan Guaidó, together with several accomplices, stole millions of dollars and resources from these entities to the detriment of the Venezuelan people.

He specifically pointed to the case of Citgo's Simón Bolívar Foundation, which was created in 2006 with the function of saving lives of citizens requiring specialized medical attention abroad.   "This Foundation received funds directly from Citgo, and after the plundering and violations of rules and regulations in force, Guaidó 'appointed' Mariela Poleo as 'president,' and appropriated millions of dollars destined for Venezuelan patients abroad," he said.

He said that the Venezuelan justice system is prosecuting, in absentia, fugitives Luis Pacheco, Claudio Martínez, León Miura, María Lizardo, Julián Cárdenas and Alejandro Grissanti, for the crime of usurpation of functions.

"We denounce before the public opinion this illegitimate operation, contrary to international order and internal legality, because Venezuela has never participated in these activities that have been carried out without the consent of the legitimate Bolivarian Government."
