Vietnam’s Communist Party leader, Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Cuba this afternoon on an official visit

Havana, March 29 (RHC)--The General Secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Cuba Wednesday on an three-day official visit.

The visitor was welcomed in Havana’s Jose Martí International Airport by Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Cuban Communist Party Political Bureau and President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power.

The Vietnamese leader´s agenda for Thursday includes official talks with Cuban president Raul Castro Ruz, to whom he will  grant the Order of the Gold Star, the highest award confered by the Vietnamese government.

According to authorities of Cuba and Vietnam, the visit will boost political relations and promote collaboration among their governments, parties and peoples. 

Some twenty agreements will be signed in sectors such as renewable energy, science and technology, food industry, justice, production of consumer goods and construction materials, many of them essential for the Cuban economic development. 

NguyenPhuTrong Cuba six years ago. On that ocassion he spoke with the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and received the José Martí Order, the highest distinction granted by the Caribbean island.
