Vietnam greets 59th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Cuba

Havana, December 3 (RHC)-- The secretary-general of the Communist Party and president of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phu, sent on December2, a joint message of congratulation to the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

 

"On such a pleasant occasion, we reiterate our wishes and determination to continue deepening the bonds of fraternal solidarity and integral cooperation between both Parties, States, Governments and peoples, to contribute more efficiently to the revolutionary cause in each country," they said.

 

Similar messages were sent by the president of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and the Vietnamese deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Pham Binh Minh, to their Cuban counterparts, Esteban Lazo and Bruno Rodriguez, respectively.

 

Cuba's ambassador to the Indochinese nation, Lianys Torres, declared that this has been a year of fruitful political, economic and commercial exchanges between Hanoi and Havana, and stressed that Vietnam has always been, is and will be a priority country for Cuban foreign policy.

 

The Vietnamese ambassador in Havana, Nguyen Trung Thanh, said that "in these 59 years, Vietnam and Cuba have spared no effort to deepen even more links that are certainly special and whose solidity has been tested over time.

 

He stressed that December 2, 2020, will be a unique moment in the history of those relations, and "we will celebrate it in style," he said.
