Havana, May 21 (RHC)—Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza is in Cuba to attend the 18th meeting of the ALBA-TCP Political Council.

Cuban Communist Party leader Raul Castro and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel met the Venezuelan top diplomat on Monday.

During the meeting the solid bonds that unite Cuba and Venezuela were highlighted. They also exchanged on topics of the regional and international agenda.

The Cuban leaders reiterated the island´s support to constitutional President Nicolás Maduro and the civic-military union of the Venezuelan people.

On Monday Arreaza also participated in a solidarity event with the Venezuelan people held at the University of Information Science (UCI) in Havana.

The Venezuelan foreign minister told participants about efforts underway to bring peace to his country.
“A new process of dialogue has been established in Norway, and there are other dialogue initiatives. We welcome them all”, he said.

Arreaza added that US authorities should learn from their mistakes and failures, in their underestimation of the Venezuelan people.   "We have told Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, that it’s time for diplomacy, and for understanding.  His advisers have led him from one blunder to another, from one frustration to another. It is time for them to learn. Let´s sit down as adults and as governments of civilized countries to understand each other.”
