Havana, May 3 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has expressed his strong condemnation of the armed mercenary incursion in Venezuela, coming from Colombia.

Earlier, the Venezuelan Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Nestor Reverol, denounced the maritime incursion of paramilitaries through La Guaira, some 30 kilometers from the capital, Caracas.

"All our solidarity and support to President Nicolás Maduro and to the civic-military union of the Bolivarian and Chavista people fighting against the aggression and the COVID-19 pandemic, wrote the top Cuban diplomat.

At the same time, Cuba's foreign minister called for an end to "imperialist sanctions that cause humanitarian damage."

Reports from Venezuela report the deaths of eight of the mercenaries and an unspecified number of detainees.
