Havana, June 28 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel recalled the return of Elián González from the United States 20 years ago in the midst of a popular mobilization called the Battle of Ideas.

"Twenty years ago, #Cuba cried for joy. #Elián González was returning home in his father's arms, after months of struggle by all the people with Fidel in the lead," the president wrote on his Twitter account.

In another tweet, the Cuban president recalled the words of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in which he praised the people of the Caribbean nation in the midst of their demand that the young 6-year-old boy be returned to his father Juan Miguel González in Cuba.
