Havana, January 21(RHC) The General Director of the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, Vicente Vérez Bencomo, announced in a press conference with foreign agencies accredited in Havana, that Cuba is preparing the capacities to produce one hundred million doses of the vaccine Soberana 02 against the Covid-19.

He ratified that the objective is to satisfy the needs of the country and also of other nations interested in acquiring the product, for example, Vietnam, Iran, Venezuela, Pakistan, and India. In the case of our country, the application will be free and the purpose is to immunize the entire population this year, he clarified.

«Cubas strategy to commercialize the vaccine has a combination of humanity and impact on world health. We are not a multinational where the financial objective goes top on the list of priorities. Our objective is to create more health, Vérez Bencomo assured, according to Prensa Latina dispatch.

The vaccine Soberana 02 began this week its expanded phase II clinical trial and it will be extended to 900 people between the ages of 19 and 80, while a new test with the pediatric population is planned to be carried out in February so that it can also be applied to kids.

After the results in this stage, we would go to the third phase, explained the General Director of the Finlay Institute of Vaccines. In that period, the health authorities plan to include 150 000 vulnerable people and residents of high-risk areas.
