Cuba reports 720 cases of Covid-19 and 926 hospital discharges

Havana, February 27 (RHC) Cuba reported on Saturday 720 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 for a total of 49,161 infections to date.

In his televised briefing, the national director of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán, pointed out that four people died from the disease on Friday, bringing the number of deaths to 318.

By midnight, 19,491 people remain hospitalized, 3, 72 are suspected, 12,198 are under surveillance and 4,221 are still active with the virus.

Of the newly diagnosed cases, 703 are autochthonous, 17 are imported and in 23 it was not possible to determine the source of infection

The epidemiology director said that, for the detection of the new cases, 17,892 samples were studied.

He stressed the need to protect minors, since in the last hours 112 children, adolescents and young people have been infected with the coronavirus.

The capital is still the disease's epicenter of the disease on the island, with 362 positive diagnoses, followed by Mayabeque, Camaguey, and Santiago de Cuba, with 60, 55, and 45 cases, respectively.
