Cuba receives important food donation from Russia

Havana, April 22 (RHC)-- An important food donation sent by the Russian Federation through the World Food Program (WFP) was officially received Thursday in Havana during a ceremony at the Distribution Loading Center of the Ministry of Domestic Trade (MINCIN).

The cargo includes 253 tons of oil and 430 tons of wheat flour and will benefit more than 77 thousand people assisted daily in the centers of the Family Assistance System throughout the country.

The Russian ambassador to Cuba, Andrei A. Guskov;  WFP representative in Havana Paolo Mattei; Grisel Avila Diaz, deputy minister of MINCIN, and Carlos Fidel Martin, director of International Economic Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, attended the ceremony.

The Russian diplomat expressed that this food aid is a faithful reflection of the sincere friendship and long-standing relations of solidarity that unite both nations and stressed that in 2021 it is expected to continue with the solidarity shipment of other products to the largest of the Antilles.

Avila Diaz thanked the Russian people and government for the donation, which will be destined to the elderly and other people assisted by the social security through the SAF in Cuba.
