Havana, November 19 (RHC)--A donation of 672 tons of vegetable oil from Russia was delivered to Havana on Thursday through the World Food Program (WFP).

The ambassador of that Eurasian nation in Cuba, Andrey Guskov, said that this food aid is a faithful reflection of the friendship and solidarity relations of many years that unite Russia and Cuba.

The Family Care System will receive part of the donation, and it will benefit more than 70,000 older adults in the country. Another part will be used to assist people affected in emergencies, especially in cyclonic seasons, all free of charge.

This year alone, Russia sent 170 tons of food and medicines to the island in four large airplanes to alleviate the effects of the pandemic and the intensification of the genocidal blockade imposed for more than six decades.
