Ana Teresita Gonzalez thanks Russian Ambassador Andrei Guskov.

Havana, Feb 15 (RHC) Cuba thanked Russia for donating 25,000 tons of wheat in the context of the global food crisis and the attempts, led by the United States, to suffocate the economy of both nations.

Expressing the gratitude of the Cuban government and people for this gesture, the first deputy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Ana Teresita González, recalled that this is in addition to the multiple actions of this type carried out by the Slavic country in complex moments of the confrontation with the Covid-19 and the scourge of recent climatic events on the island.

She also described as invaluable the help of the Russian government and people, which, she said, shows that solidarity is the only way to face the reality imposed on our countries.

At the event, held at the Luis A. Turcios Lima port terminal in Havana, the Russian ambassador, Andrei Guskov, ratified his country's willingness to continue collaborating with this Caribbean nation, both directly and through international humanitarian organizations.

He pointed out that Russia accompanies Cuba's efforts for its development in areas such as industry, machinery, transport, and energy, among others, through bilateral agreements strengthened with the visit of President Miguel Díaz-Canel to Moscow in November last year.

Both parties reaffirmed the rejection of unilateral coercive measures as a form of political pressure against sovereign countries that defend their right to development. (Source: PL)
