Havana, July 20 (RHC)-- As of this Monday, passengers arriving in Cuba may import food, toiletries, and medicines, with no limits on their value and  tax-exempt.

The measure comes as part of actions meant to contribute to alleviating the scarcities of these products due to the country's economic crisis caused by the pandemic and the U.S. blockade.

It applies to foodstuffs, toiletries, and medicines entering as accompanied baggage. At the same time, the measure does not cover shipments or  unaccompanied baggage.

The measure applies to both Cubans and foreigners, residents or not in the country, and will be in force until December 31, when, depending on the country's situation, the corresponding analyses for its extension will be made.

The resolution has a special provision in correspondence with the sanitary measures by COVID-19.

In the case of passengers arriving through the airports of the tourist poles of Varadero and Cayo Coco, the benefit is limited to one hold luggage.

The products must be differentiated or separated from the rest of the personal luggage to facilitate and expedite the border crossing of travelers.

Toiletries, medicines, and food may come together but not mixed with the rest of the articles imported.
