Jose Ramon Monteagudo, new Communist Party leader in Santiago de Cuba province.

Havana, October 29 (RHC)-- At the request of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC), the Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the Party in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba agreed  Friday to release Lázaro Expósito Canto from the post of first secretary, and to elect José Ramón Monteagudo Ruíz in his place, Granma newspaper reported.

 

Monteagudo Ruíz was a member of the CC-PCC Secretariat and head of its Agrifood Department.

 

Lázaro Expósito, who headed the Provincial Committee in Santiago de Cuba for 12 years with outstanding results, has a relevant trajectory as a Party and Government leader.

 

Between 2001 and 2009, he served as the first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the PCC in Granma, also with notable performance.

 

In 2016 he was decorated by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz with the Honorary Title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba.

 

Granma said that Expósito will be assigned other tasks.
