Cuba's Minister of Health meets with WHO Director-General

Geneva, May 25 (RHC)-- Cuba's Minister of Public Health, Dr. José Angel Portal Miranda, and the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, held a fruitful exchange on Wednesday in the context of the 75th World Health Assembly.

The WHO director-general acknowledged and congratulated Cuba's response to COVID-19 and its international cooperation with other countries, the Cuban Minister of Public Health informed on Twitter.

At the meeting,  Dr. Tedros thanked Cuba for its congratulations on his re-election for a second term at the WHO and acknowledged the island's good relations with the WHO.

The WHO director-general acknowledged the immunization levels achieved with Cuban vaccines and noted that the certification process of the immunogens developed by the Caribbean nation is being followed up.

Portal Miranda told the WHO's top executive Cuba's willingness to continue fostering ties with that organization "and the commitment to continue working for the health of our peoples without distinctions. Solidarity and international cooperation are principles we will never renounce.
