Havana, August 4 (RHC)-- The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) will reach its 62nd anniversary on August 23 amid the difficult situation the country is living, but making progress in the aspirations of this sector, assured its secretary general.

At a press conference on Wednesday in Havana, Teresa Amarelle Boue, member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and secretary general of the FMC, announced that the main event of the celebration would be held in the province of Cienfuegos.

She pointed out that despite the island's complex scenario, there is no lack of opportunities to develop creative thinking and collective intelligence from the localities.

She pointed out that much remains to be achieved in the organization's work. Still, she said that its members, grassroots leaders, and cadres are committed to strengthening the permanent link between women and the Cuban family.

Amarelle added that Cuban women continue advancing in the female population's social recognition, political participation, and economic independence.

She added that the FMC arrives at this anniversary immersed in the process of strengthening the territories and grassroots organizations, especially in those where the most significant difficulties arise.
