Education France and Cuba

Paris, Feb 2 (RHC) A Cuban delegation from the education sector will discuss next week details of the island's participation in a project that promotes solidarity from childhood, the French People's Relief said today.

Olga Alvarez, head of international initiatives of the non-governmental organization, told Prensa Latina that from February 5 to 11, the director of the "Ernesto Che Guevara" Pioneers Central Palace, Nuris Concepción, and the specialist of the Ministry of Education, Yainelis Sánchez, will travel to Paris.

For three decades, the French People's Relief has been developing the Peoples Friends of the World movement, to introduce children from different parts of the country and the planet to feelings of solidarity, and to make them carry out concrete actions at their level, she commented.

The participants attend meetings in which they learn about peace and coexistence through cultural, sports, and pedagogical activities, and are motivated to practice them when they return to their communities.

According to Álvarez, the French entity, the Havana Pioneers Palace, and the Cuban Ministry of Education have drawn up a project to improve the conditions and capacity of that facility, so that it can welcome foreign visitors within the framework of the Friends of the World initiative.

According to the head of international projects, children and adolescents between eight and 15 years of age from France, El Salvador, and Caribbean countries, in addition to locals, will be in the Cuban capital in July.

The island, and in this case the "Ernesto Che Guevara" Pioneers Palace, has experience in working with children and can provide pedagogical content, so it will be a profitable exchange of criteria with Nuris and Yainelis, she said.

Álvarez said that the visitors will hold several meetings in this capital and the city of Orleans, which will allow creating conditions for the success of the beautiful project of sowing solidarity from an early age.

She also highlighted the links between the French People's Relief and Cuba, which began in 1963, when Hurricane Flora hit the eastern part of that nation, and was systematically consolidated since the 1990s, relations always focused on the priorities identified at the local level. (Source: PL)
