Cuban Prime Minister continues tour of communities in eastern Cuba

Havana, Feb 7 (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero spoke Tuesday with voters in the municipality of Gibara, in the eastern province of Holguín, where he is a candidate for deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).

The Head of Government visited remote areas of the territory together with 40 candidates to the Cuban Parliament in Holguín.

They visited the neighborhood Los Alfonsitos, located about 60 kilometers from Gibara. The inhabitants appreciated the meeting, and the opportunity to talk and express their concerns to those who can represent them in the National Assembly of People's Power.

Among the main problems affecting this community are the housing fund, the drought -which has a detrimental effect on agriculture, the main economic activity there-; transportation, as well as the lack of integration of several services and entities to meet the needs and development of that site.

In this sense, Marrero called attention to the obstacles, bad practices, and lack of interest of many leaders or decision-makers, which affect the lives of the people and make more cumbersome problems of an easy and effective solution.

During the meeting, he also referred to the aging population of the country, which requires urgent actions aimed at improving the quality of life and living conditions in the territory.

One experience recognized by the candidates was the impact of the mini-industry "La Dueña", in the community of Cuatro Caminos, because it carries out actions for the benefit of the environment, and is a source of new jobs for women, and previously unemployed young people.

The candidates were accompanied by Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, Governor of Holguín, and the highest political and government authorities of the municipality of Gibara. (Source: Prensa Latina).
