The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, received the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in a historic visit that took place at the National Palace of Belen, residence of the Portuguese President. During the official reception, which took place in the emblematic Bicos Hall of the Palace, Díaz-Canel wrote in the Book of Honor that this visit "reaffirms the shared will to continue consolidating our bilateral relations of more than a century of existence".

The Portuguese president presented Díaz-Canel with the Grand Collar of the Order of Infante Don Henrique, the highest distinction imposed by the Portuguese president on heads of state visiting this nation. Both presidents held a private meeting, which was later extended to the two accompanying delegations.
