Cuban National Ballet will perform in the Dominican Republic in a unique performance

Havana, Sep 9 (RHC) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will present today at the National Theater in Santo Domingo Swan Lake, one of the masterpieces of the history of dance.

Performed by the first dancers Viengsay Valdés, Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández, on this occasion the public will be able to appreciate the renowned version of Swan Lake by the Prima Ballerina Assoluta of Cuba, Alicia Alonso (1920-2019), on the original choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Valdés, also general director of the famous dance company since 2020, pointed out that the first presentation of the BNC in the Dominican Republic occurred in 1976, but since 2008 it has not performed in that country as an ensemble, although some of its figures have participated independently in artistic galas.

According to BNC director, the roles of Odette, Odile and Siegfried will be danced by her, Delgado and Hernández respectively. Jorge Guerra will act as the Sorcerer, and Estefanía Hernández and Gabriel Druyet, in the roles of the solo swans.

In the opinion of art critics, Swan Lake has won the praise of the audiences where it has been presented, since it remains an exceptional example of the style, technique and modes of expression of the dance of an era. (Source: PL)
